Default Where do the graphics live?

I am totally intreagued by the technical aspect of Pachislo and Pachinko machines, but something has been bothering me about the models with LCD screens and large amounts of graphics/video.

Clearly most of this video is 'rendered' in real time (by some form of graphics processor), but equally, it looks like some of the video may actually be, just video..

My question is, what technology do they use to store all this video/graphics data? Is it a Solid State Memory device of some kind, or is there an optical drive built inside?

Assuming that its 'memory', does anyone know how much data it holds?

It's all stored on ROM chips on the boards. Same with the sounds also.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

Wow.. It must have a load of ROM to store all that data (or lots of compression).. Just out of interest, do you know how much memory it has?

The pachinko game tauted to have the most graphics ever stored in its platform is the Nishijin Sakura (Flower Full Blossom) released in 2004 with 1GB of chips. The 2006 version of the game has been released in an updated case using the virtually the same cell--possibly the same one--as the 2004 one. Graphics appear to be the same, so it also is 1GB.

As I have stated in another thread, the graphics in this game are absolutely stunning. I don't know how many other pachinkos, if any, have as much ROM as Sakura.

Since the industry is constantly evolving, I am sure we will see 10 to 20 GB pachinko graphic models soon.

theymay go the same way as some of the mofern coinop arcade games where there is an optical drive inside but to keep up so there is no loading times they start loading befor you need them so it is one continuas process but like bilko said at the moment they are impresivley stored on rom chips like the old arcade games but befor you ask.....

no you cant just change a rom bord to change the game that is being played on that cell as they are not setup that way
My rice krispies told me to do it

You can change the rom boards between versions of the same game. There are several versions of just about every game, but the only difference is in the odds and the payouts.

The only game I know of that will give you different video/audio by changing only the rom boards are the 3 versions of the current Lupin III, has 3 versions- The Inspector, Lupin and the girl.

When i was trying to fix my Fever King i swapped boards between my Fever King and hanafuda even though they are basically the same all the payouts were wacky.

It didn't pay out on the right reel combinations.
