Default STAR WARS auto play mod.

I finally purchased two pachinkos star wars and rocky. I reviewed the thread about the auto play mod, but the pictures look different from the auto play mod that is shown in the star wars manual. Which is the right way to make the mod? I would appreciate any input before I start cutting and soldering wires.

B.T.W: Star Wars arrived damaged( NOT THE SELLERS FAULT). When the seller and I get the repairs made I will be giving a full postive review about my pruchase experience on both machines

    Arby,

Thank you for the advice I will look at the back of Star Wars to find the start pocket wires.

    Big S,

Star Wars takes forever to fever compared to Rocky. I have three Young boys who love to play and watch the bonus rounds. So I guess the auto mod would be for a little extra help

    Thank you both for replies

And some of us old guys can't lift our balls for to long to get there, so some times any help is fine.

And before you say it, "I will help you bring them over here", I am not that bad off yet. I think, maybe

AAAhhh you guys are talkin about the "cheater" button!
    Confused me for a second.
Big S. I have this on both my Star Wars and Spidey machines. It's great when you just want to show off the machine and simulate a ball going through the start pocket. I had a friend who had no interest in playing with the Star Wars till I showed him what could be seen when the start pocket was hit, now he loves the game and plays it everytime he is over.

Its intersting to see other peoples perspective on these things.....I'm very much a purist when it comes to machines and like things to be as original as possible....

Just my opinion, but with the little amount of skill involved in Pachinko, combined with the fact that in the home you arent gambling for real , these mods detatch you even further from the pachinko......if it gets to the point where you don't move the balls, and you don't have to even hold the start handle, then you may as well just go and watch Star Wars on DVD .... No ?

AS I say its just my opinion, and i've only been hooked for a few months myself ........just you watch: a year from now I'll be digging out those posts on cyclic mods when i'm knackered from ball lifting........

Well said big guy! These are all elements of the experience ... the Zen of it.

I have this mod on my Star Wars as it was included with the purchase from Arby. I love the mod for the very reason that Lddrizzt mentioned. It's great when you just want to show off the game to someone. When I play, I play and I don't play with this mod but I sure like having it sitting there. Beats the heck out of opening the door and dropping a ball into the start pocket when you want someone to see what it does without all the noise of balls hitting the nails.

The mod is a box on the end of a wire.
You can put it behind the machine and ignore it anytime.

I did this mod on all four of my Pachinkos. I did it just to show off. The pachi gods were never kind to me when trying to show off the machines and I'd sit there trying to get the ball in the start pocket and lose everyone's interest. So now it's just a push of a button to show off the machines.

I was initally worried that I would cheat during play, but I don't see the purpose since it's not really playing if you're cheating. So I'm happy I did the mod. I have my machines in cabinets and put the cheat button on the left side of the cabinet just behind L-pad volume controls. This kind of hides them from others and they think I'm doing something with the volume controls when showing off.

Arby's setup that connects to the jacks is interesting, abeit more complicated that Logicprobe's. I'm interested in details regarding Arby's method. How do you know which jacks to connect the cable? Is the box Arby uses one of the boxes that you can get from a Japan auction site? Some of those Japanese boxes seem to have buttons or switches for the side pockets. Doesn't the Arby method only control the start pocket, unlike Logicprobes?

Arby's control the start pocket, just like getting a ball in it,

he can make it cyclic also, buy redirecting the balls and you use 25 balls to play.

you can shoot balls or press the button

Instead of using the external button that Arby uses, has anyone tried to use one of the two useless buttons on the front of the pachinko?

It wouldn't be too difficult to use them, they're connected directly to pins 21 and 22 of the card reader connector with the common return from the switches on pins 8 and 9.

They're normally open contacts, so would need a relay to convert them to the normally closed switches needed for Logicprobe's mod. Also if you use a standard diode/capacitor/resistor dongle in your card reader connector, you might run into problems with power supply hum/interferance causing the relay to buzz at a rate of 30 times a second when the button is held down. This should be able to be solved by adding three more diodes (to form a bridge rectifier). Let me know if anyones interested in trying this, and I'll see if I can sketch up a diagram.

I'd be interested in knowing how Arby's box is connected (if it isn't a trade secret ). The connector it appears to go to is normally an output, so there must be some kind of modification to the pachi to allow the box to be connected there.

Interesting. I may have to have a peek in the back of mine to see if I can figure out where the connector for the start pocket is. FYI, the microswitch in an arcade pushbutton can be wired as NO or NC, I think this would be the ideal switch for this mod.

I think the machine must be modded in order to use the box because Arby's auto play instructions indicate that the auto play button plug or the video loop plug need to be plugged in or the machine will not work. However, I have the greatest respect for Arby and his abilities and if he does not want to reveal his modification technique that is okay with me.

Here is a pic of the connection that Arby uses and in metering it, it appears to be a N/C swinging open when pressed. Arby's connection is the one on the far left.
