    Default UK transformer

What type of transformer is needed in the UK for a pachinko? I have a 240V (uk) - 120V transformer from my pachislo that has a Japanese socket on it, can I just plug the machine into that; is there another step down transformer in the machine or do I have to go the whole hog and get one that takes 240V down to 24V?

    Many thanks

    Jon

a lot of the machines are 24 v, but not all........DO NOT use your pachislo PSU !!!!

ask here to see who has Robocop and you should find the voltage....then ask Nik or Steve ( 777 Heaven ) if he'll sell you a transformer...

you can always get another 120 volt transformer and hook it in series with the current one and make it a 240v transformer . i'd hook a 24volt bulb to the secondary just for load purposes but its alot cheaper that bying a variac ..... the electric cost will be the same cost since the variac just takes the place of a second transformer load any way (disapates 120v over a coil) ......

Well the "fitted transformer" I paid £30 quid for turned out to be a external block that had its wires crimped togeather with the machine, not a nicely installed one like you guys get in the US. If I wanted a bodge i'd could have got an external transformer cheaper and done it myself. At the end of the day I spent £160 on a dirty machine with only 300 balls (AS ADVERTISED!!) When I Should have spent the extra £15 and got a clean working machine with 1000 balls (which I was offered for an extra £40! ) and stand, like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pachinko-Pinba...QQcmdZViewItem

ahhh here is a quick lesson in electronics the transformer you got from nic "the bodge" isnt a bodge it isactualy better than the transformers that are open and sit in the back of the machine as nic had them specialy designed to be CE regulated ie ther is an inline fuse and thermo fuse so if anything happens it just shuts down cools down and restarts you can leave that bodge turned on 24/7 if you want and nothing will happen it is 100% guarenteed safe by a british safty standard it also has a smoothing circet in lthat bodge so that all the machine recives nothunk but pur 24v ac so spikes ect wont effect it eaither i dont use these transformers as it is to costly to get them produced to a custome design and just drom a fuse inline between the machine and the transformerfor a little extra safty but trust me what you got was far from a bodge it is a custome designed transformer built soley to do the job it is doing where as the transformers that usualy come in a uk converted machine are just a lump of windings that transfre whatever gose in to a certain percentage less ie 240v gose in 24v comes out should you get a spike of 300v in then you will get 35ish v come out = bang and a dead machine to put it in simple terms

Ok rant on nics part over we now return you to the current (no pun intended) thraed

I personaly dont use a serge protector as i turn my personal machines off after use but if you are gonna have it on 24/7 then i would still use a surge protector as it makes doubly sure "better safe than sorry"
