Roll the Dragon Dice
Dragon Dice is a great machine to play. What sets this machine apart from the rest is the two large dice in the top glass. They appear to be the eyes of the dragon staring you down as you play the machine.
These dice actually roll or spin in a bonus round. Ever wonder how this could be done????
The dice movement is acomplished by a motor, and a series of gears and shafts.
This is a very mechanical set up, many moving parts.
Each dice is located in it's own cup or housing. The motor shaft passes through a fixed gear(white) and is attached to the cup.
On the cup is a large black gear. This gear meshes with the fixed gear on the bottom of the motor mount. When the motor spins
the cup spins giving power to the large black gear.
The large black gear is also meshed to a gear located on the prop shaft. The prop shaft is mounted on the side of the cup in two mounts giving it the ability to spin freely.
This shaft also has a tab on it so it can pass through a location sensor. The other end of this prop shaft is a pinion gear.
This gear meshes with another pinion gear on the shaft the dice are attached to. The dice are suspended inside the cup by this shaft.
When the motor turns, the complete cup assembly spins, cup, gears, shafts, and dice. While the complete cup assembly is spining, keep
in mind that the dice are spinning on ther own seperate shaft also. Giving you that tumbling or rolling dice illusion. Very cool.
