Need Leds or Assistance

I have read all the threads on LEDs and now am in the position of needing a fix. After reading the LED thread my Sinbad Adventures center reel decided to go. What timming huh? You can see in the pics.

I have never soldered or removed things from a pc before or LEDs can someone do it for me for a fee or can someone give me the step by step to do it myself? Also does anyone have the LEDs that have been proven to work in the threads for sale? If not know of any vendor that does? I have only had the machine for about a week and would really like to get it fixed soon. One last thing should I change all the LEDs together just to get the same matchup as well as potential same lifetime? Much thx

Who did you buy this machine from? maybe it's covered under warranty? You might be able to buy these LED's from a vendor from a parts machine.

contact websherpa he has the LEDs and the proceedure he might even do it for you for a price......
odds are the same will happen from a parts machine also same crappy leds as the hannabi ,same maker ....... the leds wayne has have held up good so far ......

I contacted websherpa before I posted this thread. After reading his threads I think he is the athority on LEDS but he is out of LEDS and is very busy at the present time to do any side jobs! He suggested posting this thread which is a good idea.

Just got off of the phone with Pachinko Palace the vendor that I purchased Sinbad from. Spoke with a very nice guy didnt remember his name. Said that he would probably have to send me a replacement part will call me later on today as Mondays are the busiest time of the week. I sent him the pics but he didnt look at them as of yet. Looks like all will be taken care of will keep you posted. Would still like LED type and vendor info for the future LOL

I had the same issue w/ the Beast sapp I bought from Stealth. I sent him back the 3 led boards and he sent me 3 new ones. So far they still work great. (knock on wood)

Isn't it just a matter of time before the stock LEDs go bad anyway?
At best they will start changing color (Yellow or green?), at worst
they will stop working all together.

I have had 6 perfectly working boards and all of them went bad one way or another.

I really do recommend the Pirahna LEDs as replacments. They are beautiful.

Pachinko Pallace warrants this stuff for life, so you might as well take advantage of it when you need it. It's a numbers game and they are banking on the fact you won't either need it or call if you do.

LED's last a long long time. About 10000+ hours. If one has burned out, most can be bought at radio shack and installed quite easily. If you live near WI/IL boarder, i'd be happy to install a New LED for you at no charge. Shouldn't take long.

these aren't your every day LEDs their tricolor LEDs and have proven to be a faulty package design seems their vulnerable to temperature changes that stress the package their mounted in breaking the lands to the led (this is pr oven by pressing down on the effected led till it makes contact and having it light again) the white piranha LEDs were replacing them with work well but are straight white LEDs not tricolor like the originals .

I'd install the Piranha LEDs for you if you provide the 3 boards and the LEDs of course.

I just received the call From PP and they said that they will look for a whiter set of LEDs to replace the ones I have. I was told that SinbadAdventure, Beast Sapp and a few other machines have LEDs that are not always uniform so they are looking for whiter LEDs. They said it would take about 2 days too look before they can send anything out.

They seem to be honoring their warranty without any complaints and are trying to help. In the meantime while Im waiting for the LEDs or I suppose they meant a board with working LEDs

I would like to get the Piranahs where are you guys ordering from and what is the specific LED #?

I have questions for those that have done the replacement themselves.

1 Do you simply heat the back of the old LEDs solder points with the iron untill the solder melts and then pull on the LEDs untill they come off of the board?

2 Is there any direction that the replacements have to be oriented with polarity?

3 Do I have to mess with the resistors?

4 With board in hand shouldnt the LED replacement of however many there are take about 10 mins?

5 Have I asked too many questions?

I just want to be able to do the replacement myself. I will practice with the bad board when I get the new replacement.
If I get good at it I will Photograph and post the steps as a guide for others in my position. Thx in advance

Pictures are worth 1000 words. Take note of the 2 "dots" in each LED and the direction they face on the board.

I cut the old leds off and then heat the back side and gently remove the pins with a small needle nose pliers.
