    Default LED's anyone?

I've been trying to get some satisfaction from the vendor that sold me this machine, but it's not going well. So I was hoping someone here might be able to help me. In the picture below, it shows two blue LED's out (in the U plastic shape, bottom and bottom left). Can anyone tell me how to get to these or have some info on type of LED. I tried taking out a few screws behind the door, but still not able to get the plastic piece off to get to the LED's. I was hoping to get to them to either re-seat or replace. So any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks Arby, I was fearful of that since it seems like everything is tied together on the door. If you're estimating 1 1/2 hours, then that would equate to about 6+ hours for me at best. Maybe this will be a project for another time. And yes, I know, you get what you pay for

I sent out a machine that (i think) because of the weather changes had a LED out there too! I have fixed one in the past on a machune, a pain, so I just sent him the whole window complete to change out.

    I lost on that one

I can attest to this one as I recently repaired my LOTR with the same issue. It took a lot of head scratching trying to decide how to get at it. After that it was an 1 1/2 hrs to take the whole door apart, glass and all. Then it was a matter of trying to remember where all the screws went. If you tackle this, watch out, not all the screws are the same length.

BTW How do you like the game itself? A quick review?

It's official name is "Fever Flower Month" and is a very nice game. Rather than numbers to match, it has various animal art images. The game goes through the four seasons and the background changes with the seasons showing video of a running brook, waterfall, fall leaves, and snow falling in the forest. It's very nature oriented and my girls love playing it too. The sound is definately Japanese when it goes through the spins. In Fever mode it has a great light show and more nature scenes along with some still shots of a Japanese women. It also has a Japanese song play with female singing that is very nice. I haven't had it too long, so haven't seen everything, but would rate it as a nice addition. I like the uniqueness of the art images rather than numbers. I would say its a very pretty machine with the lights and video that complement each other beautifully. Goes to reaches fairly quickly and for me it's been very captivating.

Hope that helps some, but let me know if you have any specific questions.

Thanks also for the info on getting the LED's fixed. I'm getting more comfortable working on these machines and might give it a try, but I can understand what you mean about putting it all back together. BTW, where did you find replacement LED's for your LOTR?

    Thanks for the quick review.

I ended up replacing the entire "V" LED board from another lessor machine I had. Initially I had thought I could replace the dead LED with a regular off-the-self piece but it turned out to be a very small diameter unit which had to fit through a small opening in the clear plastic lens.

In the end, it gave me an opportunity to "Arby-tize", clean all the LEDs and polish the interiors of all the plastic lens pieces. Wow, what a difference that made! The didn't look dirty before but the lights are much brighter now.

2tunes, there is another solution, but you have to make a compromise.

I think what is bothering you is the fact that the two burned out leds affect the symmetry of the display. What if you carefully use a bit of opaque tape and mask off the lower right led so that the remaining leds now visually balance?

If the display now feels better when you glance at it, then consider adding a piece of tape on both sides of the bottom of the "U" so that the area will appear less obvious to the eye.

I have found that a good digital camera and lots of pictures are the key to taking apart and puting a machine back together again.
Along with lots of notes and patience.

Thanks everyone for the input! Initially, I'll probably try the opaque tape and then after getting lots more playing time try and get to the LED's (with pictures and notes naturally). I'd hate to take it all apart and not get it back together without having totally enjoyed playing the machine first. I really like the idea of getting in there and cleaning and polishing. My other Pachinko's victory case is so much nicer and brighter then the one on this machine, so It obviously needs some TLC.

    Thumbs up Re: LED's anyone?

Here are two pics of the board in question for your blue leds.
It is not hard to get to, a few screws and the clear plastic cover comes right off. The tricky part is the un-soldering and the re-soldering of the leds. Just take your time, read up, ask questions at your local electronics store and purchase the brightest leds possible. Everything will work out ok. It's all in the research. Just remember, if the Japanese build it, it can be repaired.

I just had this same exact issue with the fever the king I bought. Took a while to get the lense off. had to take the glass and speakers off first. Remember the flat screws go under the glass. I first tried to reflow the solder around the bad led's. that didn't work. Then I looked around my extra parts and found that the lcd's behind a reel from Gamera Hi Vision were a very close match. I replaced the two bad ones with the two from Gamera and perfection. The only problem was that the new ones were a little less blue then the other ones. I dabbed a little blue magic marker on the bulb and it was a perfect match. Put everything back together, which was a lot easier then taking it apart. Looks perfect. You can not tell any of the LED are different. Looks great. I left it on for 24 hrs to make sure they didn't burn out or anything and there still going strong. (knock on wood)

If you're going to go out and buy replacement LEDs, I'd recommend getting enough to replace all of the same color (and a few spares as well). As it's usually difficult to get an exact match for the original ones. Though I like the magic marker idea, might have to try it out next time.

If the color was off I would of changed them all out. As long as its close I think your ok because the light is shinning thru a color lense that should correct a small color variation.
