Just the other day in the news they pulled Machines & Money from a bunch of bars in Parma Ohio. 1 I had been in just the other week and saw 3 of them. Mike : )

As I understand the law, a company could warehouse and sell pachislos and be located in California. The problem comes when the company sells a pachislo to a California resident. As long as they sell and ship outside California to legal states, everything's cool.

Also the fact that they did not report the sale to a California resident meant that the state tax boys could come after them and they could have their entire inventory seized. Rules is rules and their greed for a local sale on the sly did them in.

I realize there are many Ports of Entry besides the left coast, but somebody 'splain to me... Isn't the left coast, mainly California, where many Pachislos enter the U.S.?

If the LAPD is going to start siezing them, isn't this going to make them scarce and drive up the price of those that do make it here?

As long as the businesses are licensed in California to sell these machines they can of course get them from the ports.

The gaming license in calif to sell paschis to people in other states is 500 dollars a year. All it seems to me is calif wants their fingers in the income pie. I called and asked why they were not legal and no one could not give me a stright answer.

It was a sting operation, the wholesaler got greedy and must pay.

As stated above they can import and sell out of state and keep the machines there.

They can't sell in the state.

Police in Bradenton and Sarasota do this all the time, send a kid in to try to buy beer or cigarettes, if you don't id them and sell to them, you get a fine and community service.

To sell slot or any other gaming device in CA you need to have the Slot License before you start selling the machines and you can't sell in CA only to other legal states and you have to keep detailed records. The permit is $500 per year unless you are selling or repairing only 5 or less vintage machinesper year then it is $50 per year.

Not sure If I should start a new thread or not, I am sure someone will point it in the right direction.

My brother inlaw lives in Indiana and in Feburary had his 10machines taken by the Indiana Gaming commission. They said they found out from a previous bust they did. They were all token in/ token out, but they didn't even give him the time of day to prove to them. They wouldn't even allow him to plug them in. they said, it looked like a US slot, took in items and paid out items so there fore it was considered a slot. No charges were filed due to "him cooperating" as they put it.

But what I don't understand is, If the whole thing was illegal then why did they leave the tokens behind. He said he even asked them, You want the tokens too? Their reply was "tokens aren't illegal in indiana"

Geez, What the heck are you to do with tokens if you don't have machines?

Tell him not to bother moving to Illinois!!! Although there's no laws against owning pachi's, (yet) the government here will find something else to ban or tax heavily!!

I will be sure to tell him that. His job is about 20miles from the IL line and about 35mi from the KY Line.
