super blackjack speaker noise

anybody else with a super blackjack machine have a static type hissing noise
coming from the speakers? i can hear it above the game sounds when i'm playing
i've tryed the volume higher but it really doesnt make a difference

Yes, I've got it too. My personal opinion is it's interference from the video screen. I've never put volume controls on it before but I'm going to, to see if I can tone that down.

as i sit here listening to the noise its making, i have found that it does change with the flashing of the reel lights

I've always had this idea in my head it was a ground loop causing the problem but I've never gone a purchased a ground loop isolator to test the theory. As long as cheap pots do the trick and on all other machines that I've experienced this with, they have, I'll probably just keep buying those and wonder.

I had a couple of units that made that noise. Turned out to be dirty vol controls pots or sliders. Worked them with alittle contact cleaner and no noise. Find your vol pot or slider and work it back and forth and see if it makes the noise.

That's not relevant with the SBJ since the volume control is actually a selectable item and not a physical switch.

All the Superblackjacks I have been through have done it. Some not as bad as others. Volume controls don't seem to help. I have noticed also it has something to do with the reel lights. On the one that I have now the noice is slight so I don't think about it much. The last one was like wind blowing on a stormy night.

so, what if filters were installed you think it might help?

I was thinking some sort of shielding on the speaker wires if thats possible or maybe replaceing the wire with a better quality one ? I'm sure someone out there knows better then I do.

I got one machine that had aluminun foil wrapped around a few wires, when I looked under the foil the wiring was all intact.

So maybe some foil for shielding may help.

If nothing else, the UFO's may be able to find you easier this way.

i unplugged the video screen and that took the squeel out of it and the noise when the lights flash , but the constant static noise was still there
but it was a lot better

I just got my SBJ today and I hear a faint sound that resembles "wind" coming from the top two speakers. It's not enough (at the moment) to annoy me...it's a GREAT machine!
