Gamera and Godzilla were a big part of my childhood. I use to watch them on Saturday's "Monster Theater" at 11 am. I remember even building models of them........Man that was a long time ago.

I always wondered how they decided on which monsters got their own machine.
Godzilla is a given, but why did they pick Gamera over say Ghidrah, Mothra, Rodan, or any of the others. I mean don't get me wrong, Gamera is the coolest turtle out there, but I would have liked to have seen some of the other monsters get their own machines also.

It's because it's a SCAM. The Scary Creatures And Monsters association, the ruling body that determines which of these is liable to bring in the most revenue. The SCAM is always about money.

Gamera is very popular in Japan. All of his movies have been major hits there. I have the Gamera DVD book set. It has a documentary on the Japanese craze of Gamera.
