    Default My first eBay listing

This is the first time in all my years as an eBay buyer that I have listed something to sell. I would appreciate any comments, good or bad!

    No, it's not a pachi!

That's a beauty TJ. I love how you already gave the heads-up on potential bogus second chance offers. Good luck with your first sale!!!

In the title i would add new & original boxes

or test run & original boxes

In the description I would say condition was c10 which means new.

If it hadn't been for PachiTalk I never would have thought of it.

The listing looks great. You provide plenty of information and pictures which is what I always look for. You have anticipated questions.

Your starting bid of $1,000 with a reserve amount and a buy it now of $1,250 is a bit questionable but then I have never listed anything on Ebay yet myself so I'm not sure if the "reserve not met" is standard when you place a starting bid on an item.

Also, for such a high ticket item the shipping should include insurance to cover the cost of the item. Your current shipping calculation states that the package is insured up to $100 and I don't see an option to increase this amount.

I would appreciate knowing how this works out for you as I am planning to try listing a few things in the near future and can definitely use all the help I can get.

    Good Luck with the sale!

The ad looks great. I'm not well versed on those types of items so I'll assume the starting price is a fair one and the collectors of these will jump on the buy it now since there is but little difference between the two figures. It will however keep bidding to a minimum.

Nice ad the only thing I would sugest is to start your opening bid lower. You have a reserve set which is fine but I think you will get the bidding going quicker with a low starting bid. Good luck with auction!

Thank you all...especially keeping me on my toes!

Now a major question. How in the heck do I revise anything on that listing?!

I know it can be done, but where/how do I find that?

I'm reading their help on revising, but I see nothing about an "Action" dropdown where they say it should be.

    AAAGGGGHHHH!

Okay, I found part of it, but still nothing on insurance. Where do I add that?

Is it possible to simply increase the cost of shipping in some way and/or put a note on the listing that the buyer must pay for the additional insurance? I wish I could be of more help but like I said - I've never done this before either.

My greatest fear of selling on Ebay is that the purchaser would claim they never received the item or that it was received damaged and then I would be out the item and the $$. Unfortunately, there seems to be an abundance of scammers out there.

go to your auction page and click on revise listing, that will bring you up to the revision page, just scroll down till you see the blue print on the right, when you get to "change shipping" click on it.
on that page you will see the insurance options, click on that and change it.
you can also revise your title or description.
at the end just submit revision

I'm from the no reserve shorter duration camp. I don't use reserve prices because it seems to turn some bidders away. With the 10 day auction some people that are interested will not want to wait that long to bid.
On something like this I would have made the starting bid the minimum I was willing to accept for the item and I would have used a 5 day auction and maybe started it an hour or so earlier and not ended on a Saturday night.
I like to try and end my auctions between 6 and 8 pm Pacific time that way you don't go past 11pm in the east. I also don't like to end them on Saturday or Sunday, as many potential bidders get busy with something else and forget to bid. I would have also mentioned the orginal retail price and what year the set is from.
Overall the content, pictures and description is very good for your first time as a seller.

saturdays and tuesdays are the worst for some reason for me. I close all my auctions on sunday with decent results. Usually I have the buy it now feature but opted to leave it on my current auctions, why limit the price of an item? is my thinking, but sometimes I can sell more of the same item in one week with buy it now so who knows?

In general, Sunday nights have yielded the best results for my auctions -- lots of last minute snipes. Saturdays are not particularly good. ymmv.

Well I finally found the doggone thing, thanks to Lucky! It wasn't exactly the way you described, but close enough that I finally found it.

Many thanks, Lucky...and to all of you who have made suggestions! They WILL be taken to heart on the next auction, and I thank you all again!
