Default Will my L-pad connection cause troubles?

Hey guys this is another pesky volume control question. I wanted to learn how to connect volume controls because I have one machine now and another comming that will need it. I have read all of the volume control posts in the forums. I decided to test on my GFs Vegas slot machine Why risk mine LOL. I picked up an L pad from radioshack. I wasnt sure of the watts or ohms or anything on the speaker in the machine, as nothing is printed on it . The wires are both white so I dont know which is + or - since there are only 2 wires I assumed I just hook one up to the #1 post from the amp and one speaker wire to the to the # 2 or center post to the L-pad. It seems to work fine. But there is nothing connected to the number 3 post as is shown in all the diagrams in the forums. Will I burn something out? Should that be connected to a ground or something? The speaker is a Piezo and only gives tones not music so with this setup I might not know if it is wrong or if its ok to setup my Pachislos the same way. I would send pics of my setup but that is even harder to do. LOL

I don't like the Radio Shack ones simply because they are WAY too sensitive. Basically just touch them and they are on or off.

Here is a diagram of sorts:

    http://www.arnscott.com/PDF/Installa...stallation.PDF

I've tried them all and the ones I like best I got from Tulsa. They are the inline style that Pachislo.com is selling.

I like the big lpads from Partsexpress.com for quick and easy use, but I drill through cabinet when I use them.

Here is your question as to the 3rd wire:

    http://www.pachitalk.com/L-Pad.jpg

Basically the 1 & 3 position attach to the L-Pad and 1 & 2 attach to the speaker. So 1 goes to both the speaker and l-pad.

As for blowing and amp. I have miswired mine many times with no problems. All that happened was volume up was down and volume down was up. I just reversed the wires to correct.

For less than 6 bucks you can have a volume control.Even cheaper if you have a old pair of computer speakers. I'll post the instruction and visual aids for his. I did the Moo Moo Paridise toaday and it worked great. If you don't have speakers the part is worth 5 bucks at part source or radio shack. All you need will be in the post. To easy and better than paying for it on ebay.

I am still confused on why you need to use all three posts? I have volume controls from big bear that have 3 posts that look the same as the picture above and only use two of the posts and it sounds just fine? Why do you need to use all three connections?

I've also used only 2 of the 3 post on volume controls.

The one time I wired all 3 I had a overheating problem on the control in the bonus rounds, it even started smoking.

hmmm....I guess if it works allright I should just leave them the way they are. I bought my machines from Big Bear and I had him install my VC on King Camel and he only used two of the posts and it sounds great. Anyone else who wants to chime in feel free as I guess alot of new people probably have this question.

I just posted this in my journal this morning, take a look

    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/jour...ry&e=83&enum=2

This is how I wired every one, and they work perfectly, Turn dial to the left for low volume, and to the right to increase.

I used to use the Radio Shack units also, and I agree with Firewire, they are way to sensitive, the parts express L-pads are the best that I have found so far. You will have to drill a 3/8ths hole in the side or top of your machine, no getting around that. Kit comes with all hardware you need to mount.
