To be honest I wil still use Coton Balls because they work, and I don't have the time to do a solder job on all of them.

Not to cause a puddle here, but I have used cotton balls in speakers for the last 45 years.
In juke boxes to table top record players. It always seem to make the sound richer to the ear. I also double cluch as I am shifting, Seat more than 12 feet from the TV so I don't burn out my eyes, call the 1¢ piece a penny.

I am sure that we all do something not quite square with the world, but life go on, and spring comes to river city.

Soon it will be mushroom days here, three days of mushrooms and music, and you all thought the 60s died, not in river city

Thanks Jeff. If anyone took offence to my posts then I sincerely appologize.I REALLY do like to help people and I would never offer advice that I didn't have experience in. Also I shutter at thinking that cotton balls were suggected to all these people as a quick fix. I never said it didn't work. The person I called cotton head or cotton for brains was the one that ORIGINALLY came up with the idea. If you have a cut that requires 12 stictches would you use a band-aid to fix it up? I find the cotton ball idea is buck-shee (or scotch tape and band-aid way of doing things). Yes I am nurotic about things like this. I also AM NOT telling you want to do with your machines. I am sorry I am coing across the wrong way. I guess I am not much of a people person. I don't have many friends, however I am appreciated everywhere for my knowledge. Yes I am opinionated but I do my research and it all comes by honestly. There were no handouts here. I fought my way to get where I am. I do really enjoy being here and there is no reason to be afraid of a soldering iron. Maybe I will write an article here and call it soldering 101 for those that would like to learn how to solder. How does that sound?

Regards and Appologys to those I have offended.

Tony i don't think most were complaining about the theory so much as your choice of words for the originator of the idea as much as i might think the same thing of Sung young moon i wouldn't say it in a room full of followers. as with most ideas they come out of necessity and this was no different I'm sure it was originally a stop gap idea but they found it worked with no knowledge of damage being incurred sort of like unplugging the speaker another damaging idea ..... But most people aren't aware of the technical aspects of what they do . Thats where forums like this make there value worth their weight in gold ...... your knowledge is not the problem just your people skills and you already apologized for that so i guess we move on from there ...... and hopefully most will now take that into account when they read a post that might seem over the top . Don't take this post to be negative cause I'm guilty of the same my self at times .......Your passion for knowledge is a wonderful thing but sometimes we need to look up out of the book for those that choose not to follow the same path .........

Thanks Jeff. You could not have put it better. Yes I am passionate about doing things right and everyone is entitled to do as they wish. I have learned through the hard school of knocks and believe me I have made a few doosey mistakes in my life but that is how we all learn right? Now then you brought up another good point unplugging the speaker.. maybe we should post something on that. It has to have a load or you can damage the outputs. I have seen many fry with no load. Wouldn't it be cool of the amplifier in these machines were vacuum tube powered?? hehehehe! (the wheels are turning).

    Regards
    Tony
