its impossible to lower sound in this method with out muffling it . to restrict sound causes back pressure (lack of air movement out of the speaker for which the speaker casing is optimally designed. in short holding your thumb over the hose causing back pressure in the hose )which causes resistance on the diaphragm and over time causes damage to the speaker .there is no difference between this and cotton balls or physically putting your thumb over the cone of the speaker to muffle it . Drinking beer makes any solution sound perfect including shooting the speaker .....tends to lower the volume but causes tons of distortion.

Shooting the speaker? Thats a laugh. A friend of mine once had a few beers and hated his peaker so he put on some tunes (speakers playing) and shot them up with his.22 it was funny to see if he or the speakers would win and to my surprise one survived. It still played pretty good considering it looked like a hunk of swiss cheese when he was done.
