ok, got the game and so far it has been better than expected
i was wondering if anybody else out there with this machine knows if this light is on all the time, mine seem to never go out
its the light that says "small"

Yes, that light is on all the time until you move up to the next level by correctly picking BIG or SMALL rolls when you spin the dice.
