Not long ago, I was interviewed as a potential juror in a high-profile trial.
There was some 40 minutes of VERY personal questions... about me AND my family... by both prosecution and defense. In the end, I was "dismissed", and not chosen for jury... but it was probably just as well. The defendant has since been found guilty of murder and sentenced to death. I had no previous bias on the case, but obviously someone thought I might. So be it.
Anyway, there was no bible to swear on. I was asked if I "swear or affirm" that I would tell the truth, while raising my hand. That was it.
Not sure if that's a state thing... or county... or what?
