Unfortunately I suspect this guy will just say he hasn't received it, as you were warned there's no protection, so can you send it again correctly this time.

Is anyone actually doing anything to report this guy officially via Ebay or the Police?
since paypal forwards an email telling you that payment has been received succesfully, i am sure James could forward one of these to him saying something like what are you talking about man!!! Paypal confirmed you accepted the payment etc.. etc etc (if you need one i got a couple saved up)

As for reporting him to th authorities i think james is trying to get him in deeper before he pulls the trigger...

    scum... just plain scum...

Now to see what JD does when he get's this mail:

    Hello JD,

Just to let you know I sent you the money via your paypal account (arbycoffee) for $675.00 USD This way both of us save some money (me 1/2 the senders fee, and you get to keep your half. Plus as a bouns I can use my ebay coupon for another $25.00 off, don't worry ebay covers it, you will still get your $675.00. Here's the coupon info below so you can save too:

just got this from Ebay, 10 percent off with using Paypal for Ebay purchase
    good thru march 31th
    the code is C-MARCH2006CAT
You can save up to 25.00.

remember to type it in as it is above, and if it does'nt accept try again, palpay can be troublesome at times.

Back to paypal, you should already find it in your account (arbycoffee) from James Hanna and you already have the shipping info. I've done my part, so now you do yours. Please e-mail me the tracking number so I can check to see that it's been sent. If you have any problems with the payment or shipping just e-mail me.

Can't wait to get my star wars,
    James

I decided to keep it simple and to the point, being the nice guy that I am I gave him the coupon code to make it seem that I'm on the level. So either he e-mails me back to say or he'll try to e-mail arby. This should be a fast reply as he thinks he's almost got the money, just the stupid guy (me) sent it to the wrong address.

    Cheers,
    James

    Nice email, James.

The plot thickens, the noose tightens, and the music swells...
Now, will he take the bait?

Has he ever offered any more collectible Star Wars items to you that he's "discovered" while on his trip to the UK?

    How told you that?
I have been burnt using the paypal service last week... i have closed down my account and i have a dispute with them right now......Please proceed with the payment like ebay advises you to.Thank you

Like he can actually shut down arbycoffees paypal account. It does look like I've thrown him for a loop and here's the e-mail that I sent him:

    Hello JD,

The money has ALREADY been sent to you paypal account (arbycoffee) as was stated in the orginal Star Wars auction (Item number: 6610662689 ) arbycoffee ( 2719) see below:

    Original Transaction
    Date Type Status Details Amount
Mar. 22, 2006 Payment To Arbycoffee Completed ... -$675.00 USD

    Name:
    Credit Card

    Total Amount:
    $675.00 CAD

    Date:
    Mar. 22, 2006
    Time:
    15:40:32 PST
    Status:
    Completed

    Funding Type:
    Credit Card
    Funding Source:
    MasterCard Card XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-1236
This credit card transaction will appear on your bill as "PAYPAL *ARBYCOFFEE".

and as you can see from the copies that I've made from my Paypal accout, the transaction has been completed and YOU'VE been paid. Any problems that you have with Paypal you deal with it. I know that Paypal can be a pain to deal with so I'll give you a few days to try and work it out with them and I really want the star wars machine so let me know what's happening.

    Cheers,
    James

I left him the little opening by giving him a couple of days to deal with Paypal so lets see how creative JD can be.

wow I just caught this thread...this is like CSI PachiTalk.com!!! Sweet sting operation.

I love the way the guy panicked and make all of those typos to you.

I have a feeling that you won't hear from him again though....

The unfortunate thing is that over at BYOAC (Build Your Own Arcade Controls -- an arcade game website I frequent) a guy in England named "HarPal" scammed some of us for hundreds....thankfully I didn't get caught up with him.

Basically he got everyone's trust by hanging around for a while....then started posting all sorts of stuff for sale.

Then....(what a surprise) he posted that his storage unit was broken into and he's lost everything....surprise #2 ?....he stopped responding to everyone's emails.

Sigh....it seems like such a waste to rip off Arcade game and Pachislo/Pachinko collectors...but I guess these are high ticket items that the scammers know we'll pay for....

My sickness started with video games....now Pachislo!....oh, what fun! :lmao:

Machines I now own...more to follow I'm sure:
    Pachislo
    METAL SLUG
    TEKKEN Jet Set Radio

    Pachinko
    SONIC the Hedgehog
