Default Second Chance offer:Arbycoffee's Star Wars Auction Scam

Betta that title got you to look:

I Bid on Arbycoffee's Star Wars auction last weekend, I know a few others of you did as well. The Highest I went was $675.00, it ending up going for $820.01, just a little higher than I was willing to pay. Congrads to the highest bidder, they got a great machine from a great guy. But suprise, suprise, I get the following e-mail today saying that I had a second chance to buy the machine at my highest bid, see below:

It was done up all ebay like, but since I don't know how to post HTML on the thread I'll do it this way.

But as you notice, that's NOT arbycoffee's e-mail address, Could this be one of those e-mail scams that I've heard so much about? Lucky for me I can just e-mail arby, one quick reply later "James, it's not me" . So no Star Wars from arby for me.

So why don't we have some fun with JD. I sent the following message to our little scammer:

I'am still intrested in the star wars machine. what can we do to make the deal happen!
    Cheers, james

As I post this the scammer has yet to reply, and to all those who bidded on Arbycoffee's auction on the weekend, I'am sure that you have the same e-mail waiting for you!!!

    Cheers,
    James

EBay is a place you need to watch yourself at all times, that's for sure. Be fun to see what this guy does next. This is a nasty scam and would be easy for many to fall into.

You see alot of this on the higher priced auctions. I see it alot in the vintage scooter stuff and car auctions. The other fav scam is to take someones auction and copy it. Then hijack someones ebay account and sell the copied auction stuff again as their own. Usually spotted by different locations. ieroduct in US, seller in Romaina. Another way to spot is the seller will have you send the money western union etc. Not by paypal, or don't sent it to the seller but to someone elses account.

Pinball auction bidders routinely get these. I remember the first one I got actually fooled me at first...but I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed...

The rule: always log in to ebay independently (not through a link) and work only from there.

I talked to arby before posting all this to ask if I could use his name. It was from arbys Star Wars auction that this scumbag got our bids and e-mail addresses and send out these fake but real looking ebay letters (if you PM me your e-mail address I'll foward you the real thing to see for yourself).

    Cheers,
    James

Anyway we can actually post the original HTML e-mail for everyone to see?
Let me know and I'll forward it to someone!

    Cheers,
    James

Remember if you have an "official" second chance offer through Ebay it will show up in your my Ebay section on your buy page.
I would ask this guy why it's not there.
