Default Silly question about shipping prices.

Thought Since Luckydog finally got the slotusa thread back to slot usa I would start a different thread that way BF of PF and I wouldn't have to worry about hijacking it again....

    Lucky posted this link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

From what I understand Arby is the master at packing pachikos and slotusa sometimes has problems with packing, so why in the world does slotusa charge almost 20+ USD more for shipping than Arby does, Sometimes there packing sucks and Arby's always rocks. Are they that greedy as far as cash goes? or are they needing to make up in shipping what they lost in the auction to cover their cost? surely they get a better shipping rate than arby does. so what gives?

Ok, there it be, let the mud fly boys and girls!!!!!!!!!

I have a feeling that Arby loses money on shipping with the quality of the packaging he uses.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

Padding an auction with an overpriced "shipping/handling" fee is pretty common on ebay. Good sellers will keep it close to what it actually costs or bump it up reasonably to cover "other" costs. Bad sellers will try to jack it way up and mention it in the fine print.

I sell a lot of video games on ebay, I charge 2.50 to 3.00 first class shipping in a padded mailer with tracking.

a lot of sellers want 5.00 or more and then ship media mail.

Yeah, I sell pins on ebay...I'll charge 2 bucks for shipping, which is the typical rate. There are a bunch of sellers that charge 5 bucks or more for the exact same thing - padded envelope shipped first class. Actual cost is 60 cents for postage, and around a quarter for the envelope...cheaper if you buy in quantity. Their "strategy" is to lure more bidders. Savvy ebayers will check the shipping costs and factor that into their max bids. Thus the auctions with the higher shipping rates appear to be lower cost and tend to snag the less savvy.

    Yes it true

The shipping alone I lose about $10 more than the $60 charged, keep in mind the box I am shipping is 20x24x36 and 83 pounds.

Quad wall box, 2" foam sheets, bubble wrap, bagged peanuts, Honey comb board, Box Staples, glue, Skid wrap, stickers.

Part of getting it there in one piece

    Like my last auctions:

    Sam's UPS Total: 72.17 USD

    Fred's UPS Total: 73.16 USD

    Ray's UPS Total: 67.67 USD

    Christopher's UPS Total: 69.14 USD

To be honest, I am pretty happy with a break even about now
I be well in the hole if it weren't for all the Star Wars I bought last year.
But I said to Sam Win a little and lose alittle, I have been on the other side.

I have opened a box and my joy was dashed againist the rocks, because a vendor didn't want to spend a few more bucks to make it a better ship.
And than the dance with the vendor to get it either replaced or parts. Than I doing there work for them FREE, oh, they give you a few extra balls.

So I do the very best I can on shipping.

Don't laugh, I look into making a wood shipping box for them. But the shipping cost would than be in the freight range with a lift gate.
