i cant believe the amount of nervous nellies on this board its a wonder you have brought fire into your caves let alone electricity ..... the facts are you need to have a power strip with a surge protector for any computer related device and your machine counts for that. 2nd you should have a built in circuit breaker on that strip also . if you have a 24volt machine with a transformer i'd suggest an off switch installed before the transformer to shut the machine off so the transformer is cut from the power source also . a three prong cord is a must for any device for home use why they don't have one is beyond me ..... if your concerned by bulb replacement cost encase the machine in plastic and put it on a pedestal and admire it but for god sake don't play it ..... when operated properly these machines are as safe as your VCR or any power pack for any other device you have plugged in your wall (dont stampede to unplug those power supplys for your cell phone ,cordless phone computer or playstation now!!!!!) there are some safety rules to consider yes but if you haven't thought of them buy now then i can imagine what your car or bar goes through in an evening .the cost to run the machines is negligible and has been covered before get out the calculator or use the calculator function on the computer your using now ( i know its not an AOL function but you'll get use to it if you try. ) and do the math.you'll be amazed but then again you'll be ticking off the Greenpeace people .....

me think thee doth protest too much.

well i calculated everything on my abacus unfortunately its not AOL compatable.

i was able to figure out that if people want to turn off their machines for whatever reason it doesnt make them cave people UGH! we got fire now or tree huggers cuz they want to conserve energy either for economical or ethical reasons.

true electricity is a safe thing most of the time but some feel more comfortable with it off when they dont need it and others dont feel the need to have a machine sucking power and paying for something they arent using ..
    so whats the big deal?

you'll have to excuse me now i got to fight off a bear thats trying to enter my cave..

Hmmmm........okay........I usually keep quite about these things. Most electrical codes require that you not exceed 75% of the amps. So, I guess if you understand everything that is on the circuit you are using and what they are pulling.........go for it. But for the other 97% of the population, please turn your machines off.....Hindsight is always 20 - 20.

As a member of the "other 97% of the population", and a self-declared dunce with electronics I feel safer with all the gaming machines turned off when not in use.

Off for me, peace of mind comes to mind. Off: nothing happening. ON: Just like the lottery "hey you never know" what can happen.

I include myself in that statement to Mike. I do a lot of stupid things, like; never turning the breaker off while renovating some part of my house. (Been shocked a 100 times.) But leaving my machines on isn't going to be one of those things.
