Default Am I missing something here

Just got my first pachislo (thunderbirds)and have been playing a while now, apart from the fact that it looks great and sounds great I can't help feeling something is lacking. Most of th time I am feeding in hundreds of tokens and getting little back, then every now and again you hit the jackpot and can't lose with the machine going mad and paying out until it either runs out of coins or game overs. I Just find the jackpot a bit tedious.

Any comments ?,as I say,I may be missing something here

Could be the model. Some are bigger teases than others. Some you can learn to "eye shoot" so you get bigger bonuses or more often.

Certainly compared to a US casino slot machine, pachislos are much more entertaining.

Check the Odds setting, perhaps it's set too low (not enough payouts to keep you happy). Yes it does eat hundreds of tokens at times, but then sometimes you get multiple bonuses in a row...

If you're not really into slots, then perhaps it's just not fascinating enough (it's not a video game, afterall), although some models have more too them than others. That's one reason I suspect certain members end up getting machine after machine, once the thrill of learning one inside and out goes, they crave another...

Yeah could be that, but don't get me wrong it looks great in the games room and the kids love it,tempted to try a pachinko (thinking about the fireworks or starwars) but wonder if I will just compare it with my pinball machine.

Can't see an odds setting, just two switch below the reset button, they don't seem to change anything.

Some people have changed there payout settings to 3 or 4 because they feel it makes the game more enjoyable. You may try changing yours between the different payouts, as the machine will act different in each setting.

Odds are normally changed by turning off the machine, switching a key on the power supply, turning it on, then pressing a button near an segmented numerical LED on the door. THere should be instructions for doing this for your machine in a couple places on the net. 1 is the "hardest" or lowest payout, 6 is the easiest, it usually pays out something like 110% of what you put in over time.

I play on 4 now since the odds are enough that it keeps me playing long enough to really WANT a win, and also long enough that usually all of the "chance" features on the machine come out to tempt me.

It's hard to beat Pinball, I havent' had one in years but I'd give my left arm and eyeteeth for a Williams Black Knight to play in my basement. However, even when we did have one, eventually I ended up only dusting it off and playing it when friends were over (though it was an early machine).

the first pachinko that i got was a fireworks. loud! fun!
then a few weeks back i won a old style unit on ebay. $50 with postage .i only bid because it was soooooo cheap!!!! i spent a week making it work and seeing how it works (no video , or electrics). now i can't stop playing it! much more fun than the (NEW) machine.

fast and loud do not allways = fun .
i think the next machine i get will allso be a vintage pachinko.

Vintage machines are very cool and are fun to play in their own right. I have owned and played a vintage now for 30 years and still enjoy the heck out of it. They might not have all the bells and whistles and lights of the new generation, but they sure can be fun.
