Default Question about coin hopper on King Camel

I have a question about the coin hopper on my King Camel. Just below the drop for the coin mechanism is a little metal chute, which directs coins OUT of the hopper through a hole in the side. Sometimes when I open the machine I find a handful of tokens dumped on the floor inside.

I've looked at it carefully and it's obviously intended to be that way, but I'm not sure why. I could remove the chute, which would eliminate the problem, but I'm wondering, why is it there in the first place?

I can post pictures if needed.

It's there to direct tokens to the parlor's collection mechanism. You can certainly take it out and/or put duct tape over the side opening. I usually just put a container in there beside the hopper to catch them. That way if I have to open the door to get more tokens, I just grab the container and dump it in the front tray. This works best if you have lots of tokens, and the hopper is mostly full.

You can put something to catch the tokens like small Tupperware or use the trays that some of the machines come with here is a link to what i am talking about seems most dealers don't include them http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

That is the overflow in case the hopper gets full, like what cwstnsko said. Most every hopper has this on it in some form or another.
I just put duct tape over it on all of my machines and then they don't fall out anymore.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

If you look at the eBay link above for the overflow trays, you'll see two holes in the back of the trays. Those holes are for prongs that stick through and electrically short out when the metal tokens build up and short across them. Simple device that tells the parlor that the hopper is full, spilling into overflow and the overflow bin is filling up.

Many vendors remove the wires to the prongs, but many leave them there, too. Take a look and you might still see them.
