Default Fever the King / Victory LED's

I just picked up a "Fever the King". It had an error code that turned out to be 3 error codes as I fixed each one. One dirty switch (easy fix), and a ball jam due to an oversized bearing someone must have thought came from the machine.

One of the blue LED's in the V is out. I've read the posts about it here, and am not worried about replacing it (I'm good with a soldering iron). Does anyone have any specs on the voltage requirements? I was going to measure it before replacing.

The last problem might be difficult to fix. The reels use RGB LED's, and one of the RGB LED's has a green die out, so there's a pink cast on the reel. Hopefully I can get to that board without messing up the reels/positions/etc., and hopefully I can find a replacement RGB LED. If anyone has any info on this one, I'd appreciate it, thanks!

My reels are pink in spots too. I thought it was suppose to be like that.
I have 3 pink spots on reel 1, 2 spots on reel 2 and 1 spot on reel 3.

Sorry to ruin your day Yeah, all 3 RGB dies are supposed to be lit making white light. I guess I'm lucky I only have 1 bad one. I'll reply to this post when as I work on it and report my findings. I'm not in a big rush, as the machine works fine otherwise, so I think I'll enjoy the machine for a little while before something worse happens during the fix!

Well I took FTK apart to get at the LCD's. Not an easy thing to do. There was about 2 dozen screws to get at the reels then each reel had to be taken apart because its really 2 reels. One inside the other. I tried reflowing the solder around the lcd's in one reel. I put everything back together but no joy. The tip of my soldering iron might of been to big for this to be effective.
Well since each reel has pink on it it all matches so it doesn't look bad. Like I said, I didn't even know something was wrong until yesterday.
I'll just live with it until I could find a deal on a new one and swap out reel assemblies.
    Anyone else have pink reels???

Well I couldn't leave well enough alone. I took the reel assembly apart again and messed with the LED's. Well Its definitely bad solder joints. By apply the soldering iron to the middle connection I was able to change the pink back to bright white. It worked in all cases although after everything was reassembled 1 changed back to pink. And I suck at soldering. If your a good solderer you should have no trouble fixing yours.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Is it possible for you to take pics of the area involved if you go into the machine again?

Yes, I thought about pictures after the fact but it was a bit of trial and error as I didn't really know what I was doing, I was just winging it.

Hey, Chris please stop taking me apart. I am really having a very hard time remembering were everything is suppose to go. And the last time, I think you lost a couple of pieces.

Well, I had my opportunity to take FTK apart to fix the LED, and of course no batteries for the camera, so no pics. There was a lot of digging to get into the reels. I resoldered the bad LED, and the diodes around it, put it all back together, and no luck. The LED is white for about 2 minutes after powering on, then the green goes out. I'm not convinced it's a solder joint causing the problem. I'll ask around the engineering department at work and do a bit of research, but the fix might be replacing the SMD LED's (not all that easy of a task).

The LED's are all white 'till after 2 minutes the attract mode kicks in and color cycles the LED's, then the green goes out. One of our engineers at work says it sounds like the LED is "leaky" and needs to be replaced. So now I'm on the hunt for tricolor SMD LED's... If anyone has any leads, feel free to jump in!

Try Quickar for the Leds you need.

They are the supplier I used for the Sinbad Reel Leds

    Default RGB LED's, Lumina frame

I posted in another thread about my Fever the King's reel LED's having the green die burned out, so they cast a pink glow on the reels. I was staring at my Star Wars machine, and it occurred to me the Lumina frame uses RGB LED's also, so I took one apart. Sure enough, it uses the same LED's as the FTK reels.

I've spent hours searching the net for replacement LED's, but have not even found a suitable replacement. Does anyone know where Sankyo gets their LED's, or how to source them? Thanks.

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately the LED's those machines use are standard parts, whereas the Lumina frame and FTK reel LED's are surface mount, and less than half that size. I'll post pics this weekend, and mass-email LED suppliers.

John, Post a few pics here also. I haven't taken any of my Lumina's apart as of yet to see these led"s . But my FTK has the same problem you are talking about.

Here are the LED photos. I posted them in another thread as well, since my discovery that the Lumina frame uses the very same LED's on the left and right sides. If anyone has any leads, let me know. I'll follow up when I have a solution as well.

Could it be this kind of product:
