Default My hand at wood working

Started building the cabinets. This design will allow any number of machines to be built in. The table, top and bottom frame work are made out of Aspin which will stain and varnish nice. The rest of the wood is poplar which is a hard wood. There will be a lower shelf under the table top also made of aspin to hold trays and other goodies.

The ball boxes up top I figure will hold 4 to 5000 balls which should be enough to run through a Fever. It has a lexan front to be able to see the ball level in it. Not in the pictures is a lower ball box that will be below the table top and collect the spent balls. This will hold approx. 1000 balls. It will have a full level switch in it wired to the lower machine tray full level switch and will also activate a light of your choosing on top of the cabinet.

The table top is 15 inches deep and has a 6 inch shelf in front of the machine for the ball tray. there will be a ball feed shutoff for the top ball box. The lower one does not really need one as you just stop shooting balls before you open it up to empty it.

I am going to install two buttons which will be placed on the top of the table wired to the center chute to be able to display how the game functions which will also dispense 3 balls and the other to a ball drop sensor which will dispense balls to the upper tray. In the case of the Indy machine I have the sensor I picked dispenses 10 balls. (have to use the honor system and not push them during play)

On the side of each cabinet will be a round electric key switch which will shut off the power to the whole cabinet.

Instead of posting the dimensions, wood needed and assembly of it once it's done I'll type it all up with drawings and if anyone is interested I can E-MAIL it to you.

I'll post more as progress moves along. Cyclic machines can bell installed too. They just won't need the top and lower ball boxes and the plumbing which I will post as it's assembled.

Thank you... Working on the lower part that will support the whole thing right now. Want to get all the parts cut first and be able to fit together. Then back apart and A LOT of sanding before the stain and varnish. Oh!! the wood is Aspen, not Aspin. Took one trial and error to cut the 1/8" lexan. There was enough on the sheet to make 6 panels but I need only five due to the Fireworks being cyclic. Will post more as progress moves on.

a word of warning if you are not wall hanging the machines then bracket them to teh wall some how as they are very top heavey and prone to toppleing without even in cabinets

especialy if you open the front of them to work on them

That is in the build also. Was going to post it as the build progressed. There will be two stained and varnished blocks mounted to the wall studs. In the middle of each block will be a 1 X 1 square hole that two 1 X 1's from the top of the back of the cabinet will slip into and be held in place with metal drop pins. Quick to take apart to move the cabinet.

There will be a lot of weight up top with two 4000 ball hoppers.

The cabinet is done. In work on the lower portion now.

Well the bottom is on. All that is left is to cut and mount the two lower shelf's under the table between the 3 vertical legs, the rear two supports and the lower spent ball box's under the table. Besides holding goodies, the shelf's will also add support to the lower section. The table is 24 & ½ inches high which is just right for a regular chair or low bar stool.

Thanks All... Got to keep busy on these. I sent three machines to Arby straight from imatrix. (Indy, Star Wars and Vicky Chance) He is ARBY-ISING them. He just sent the Indy on it's way to me. Fireworks is here that I got from Arby's auction and a Julie is in route from CF. 3 Cabinets for 6 machines. Now I have to figure out what the last machine is going to be. Any suggestions???

I'll keep you all updated as work progresses. In work right now on the lower spent ball boxes and feed system from the back of the machines to them. Just ordered the micro switches for the spent ball box full alarm.

Note to self...I NEED TO BUY MORE BALLS ! ! !

As for what to suggest as your next Pachinko, that's a difficult one, as you appear to have some of the best already!!

Hi all,

Got the machines fitted into the cabinet with their frames. Found problem # 1. Going to have to move the machines back about 1 inch on the table top. The ball tray hangs over the front of the table a bit. I mounted the center leg to the table top at a slight angle to help in side support (flexing of all that weight from side to side). Will be working on the spent ball boxes and their down spouts this week end and the ball cutoff to the top hopper. Work progresses...

Beautiful work, Brian!
