Default want to build mame cabinet or table

Ok I started this post because im new to wiring buttons and joysticks to a PC for the purpose of a cabinet. Anyway, all input is appreciated because I know nothing about it yet. However, I found a site for those like me who haven't tinkered with it before: Build Your Own Arcade Controls FAQ - Step up to real gaming excitement!. I'll probably be on there for the rest of the night because Im getting into building stuff and this is probably what I'll do next. Please share your projects, and info about how you did it with us. thanks in advance

Your buttons are wired directly to the IPAC which then connects to your computer which looks upon it as being just another keyboard.

If you are a glutton for punishment, you can hack your own keyboard but they are prone to key "ghosting" problems if not done right.

With quality components you get quality results, and yes, it is that easy and yes, it plays as good as, if not better than the original.

To play Pacman properly, get a good 4-way joystick. The 8-way units just don't cut it for 4-way play and I have no experience with the on-the-fly switchable kind.

There is always lots going on at Pachitalk!

It's very simple to put together with the Ipac. It's just two wires for every button/direction. One wire on every control is the ground wire, the other is the function. If you look at the Ipac and How it is set up, You can't make a mistake. Then, the Ipac just connects directly to your Motherboard where the keyboard is. I recently added a coin door to mine. Works great. Although, I know my friends won't pay to play, but it makes it look better, and the sound of a coin inserted is nice also.

The Joystick I use is the Happ Controls Super Joystick. I like it. It works great. I set it up in 8 direction mode, and I don't have any problem with pac man. There are A LOT of choices

I have one of these controllers -

That thing is unbelievable, Track & Field, Missle Command you name it they all work perfectly.
I am thinking about selling it, by the way.

one thing i would recommend having built and wired 2 mame cabinets

if you buy the IPac.

DONT CHEAP OUT... spend the few extra bucks and get the pre made wire harness thing.. it will save you lots of time and aggravation
