Default QAM channel list.

There may be a few of you who are unaware what Quadrature Amplitude Modulations (QAM) really is and that your TV may have it. Simply it is a tuner that allows digital televisions to receive reception of digital channels without the inclusion of a set-top box.

QAM (television) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What does it mean for you? It means that you are able to receive a lot of the digital/HD channels without paying a rental fee for a cable box.

Downside... The "strange" channel listings. Example: Two part channel numbers (72 - 101) My TV sets, Lg & Samsung, list these stations under CADTV. And these numbers have no correlations to the cable/TV guide listing for the stations. So it can be hard to figure out what channel is what station.

Thankfully, our friends at SiliconDust.com have done the work for us. Just enter your zip code and provider and they provide the channel list for you. (The reason for this thread)

hdhomerun/channels - Silicondust

Most US TV's made after 2006 have a QAM tuner built in. And well the cable boxes do provide other useful features, understanding this type of tuner may help get rid of a couple of them.

I've been getting Free HD channels and others for close to a year now with my 32" HD lcd tv and small outside antenna and amplified signal booster.

I get over 20 regular local channels for FREE!!!

I don't get CBS their signal comes from a different Tampa area
